Seven years ago I pulled the plug on TV. We only watch DVD’s or enjoy online viewing. My son now 19 and I have never regretted our decision. We feel that TV and the constant assault of negative news which it emits create a society of desensitized and apathetic zombies. As a school teacher my primary students nearly fall off their chairs when I explain that my TV is only used for DVD’s, and only occasionally. My son still plays his XBox and has an online ‘reality’ but he knows the difference now between being plugged in or being unplugged…and that was my intention.
